On September 5, 2013, a relatively unknown singer— who’d been active underground in the music and poetry scene for years, doing backup vocals for artists like Debra Debs and some artists who’d recorded at M1 Studio, G3 Studio and Drimp Studios— released her first official single on Sound Cloud and YouTube titled “You”, and five days later, the song had 1,100 views on YouTube, making Olgha a fascinating discovery in 2013.
“You” is an uplifting groovy tune amid a backdrop of traditional instruments, the most prominent being a drum, in a way that is reminiscent of Erykah Badu’s 2000 song “Didn’t Cha Know” from the album Mama’s Gun.
This soul singer-songwriter will be performing on the 26 of July at Hotel Azur (Bastos, Yaoundé) at 18hrs.
