Edwige-Renée Dro, one of the judges, shares her thoughts on the stories and Cameroonian writing here.
As earlier stated, this short story competition (in partnership with Phoneme Media and Goethe-Institut Kamerun) is part of a project which aims at publishing new Cameroonian fiction from talented writers who are under 39. The shortlisted stories, as well as selected stories which received Special Mention, and commissioned stories will be considered for inclusion in the anthology.
In preparation for anthologies (in English and French), the stories will be edited and translated, workshops will be organized and writers across the shortlist and Special Mention will take part in a reading series which will start in 2017.
Tel que nous l’avons indiqué précédemment, ce concours (organisé en partenariat avec Phoneme Media et Goethe-Institut Kamerun) s’inscrit dans le cadre d’un projet visant la publication d’œuvres de fiction de nouveaux et jeunes écrivains camerounais talentueux et âgés de moins de 39 ans. Les nouvelles retenues ainsi que celles ayant reçu une mention honorable et celles qui ont été commandées seront considérées pour inclusion dans l’anthologie.
En prélude à la publication des anthologies prévues (en anglais et en français), lesdites nouvelles seront mises au point et traduites, des ateliers seront organisés et, dès 2017, une série de séances de lecture impliquant des écrivains finalistes et ceux ayant reçu une mention honorable sera organisée.
