BakwaCast is looking for a new podcast creator.
BakwaCast is the podcasting arm of Bakwa, an organization that empowers creatives across various platforms. Over the past decade, Bakwa Magazine has published ten issues, commissioned writing from new and established writers, curated cross-continental projects and gone from online to print.
We started BakwaCast to dive into the minds of Cameroonian change-makers, both on and off the continent. Season one featured conversations with people who cut across different sectors: tech, art history, blogging and poetry. BakwaCast is a traditional progression towards embracing new formats to tell stories we love dearly. We’re interested in creating conversations around Cameroonian literature, past, present and future.
Now, it’s your turn to join us.
Do you love books? Great. Do you love Cameroonian books? Even better.
If you can talk about books, make compelling, yet objective arguments about them, then keep reading. If you can take an idea and package it in an entertaining manner while injecting your personality in the mix, keep reading.
If you’ve wanted the chance to interview Cameroonian authors and have long conversations with publishers, writers, editors, translators as well as other key players in the publishing industry, or the opportunity to rant about books you liked or didn’t like, then you’re in the right place.
We’re looking for the next voice of BakwaCast; someone to forge the path of literary conversations around Cameroonian books using podcasting.
Interested?
Here’s how you can be selected:
- Pick your favorite book by a Cameroonian author, living or dead, on the continent or abroad.
- Write, record, edit, and produce an audio file on your chosen book. This could be an interview or a monologue. We want you to go wild. All you need to do is keep us interested in what you have to say. This audio file should not be less than 5 minutes, but it can be as long as you would like. Make it interesting, that’s all we ask.
- Submit this audio file to info@bakwa.org by March 30 with “BakwaCast” as the email subject.
We will reach out to selected candidates by April 10 for an in-person or phone conversation.
You don’t need to be based in Cameroon to be eligible. Remember, the only criterion is that you love Cameroonian books and would be excited to talk about them and bring them out to the world.
If you’ve read this far, then you really should submit your podcast episode. This could be the beginning of a great audiophile adventure.
