“You have a fullness you need to bring out” interrogates and reimagines how we consume text-based art, specifically what we read and how we read, by offering an immersive approach. Drawing from a curated archive of work from Bakwa Magazine and Bakwa Books, this exhibition gives new meaning to the written word by exploring the possibilities beyond the page and bringing down the barrier between the written word and word art.
At the heart of this intervention is typography, which both stands alone and connects the other parts of the exhibition, which cut across cover art, sound art and gif art, as they reimagine the space they occupy from the ground to the walls.
“You have a fullness you need to bring out” features work by Dante Besong, Nkiacha Atemnkeng, Howard M-B Maximus, Lebohang Mojapelo, Yash Pradhan, Christo Musinguzi and Kanyinsola Olorunnisola. Curated by Dzekashu MacViban.
This exhibition, which is within the framework of Bakwa at 10, is available at Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart (every Saturday and Sunday afternoon), right up to November 14.
